Works on Paper – these are created with acrylic paint used straight from the tube then pulled/pushed around with plastic spatulas and with marks made from the wrong end of a brush. Sometimes I incorporate floating medium and/or the odd bit of glitter. The different layers of colour are exposed, playing with texture and movement.
Paper gives a firmer surface than canvas for this quality of
mark-making, the paint appears embossed or almost enamelled in places, with
subtle surfaces and close-up detail. They are 3D experiences in 2D form. These
works are spontaneous, and phenomenological, where the whole story is happening
in one moment.
