  Interesting that in the last week this site has suddenly got a big following from Germany, of which I am thankful. Yet yesterday I met two German art students studying at the university here! Here I take a picture of one of the two young ladies taking a photo of her work. I had for the last week or so enjoyed when walking through the town centre, seeing the knitted sleeves on the trees and had wondered who had done them. Now I have met the artists!  

      I was just thinking my brothers and sisters at the times in life, like as a teenager when my father died and then in my thirties when my wife died. We can be - as the teenage me was - far from God and ever scream out in anguish, "God you cant exist or you wouldn't let this happen to me!" Yet in reality He is always closer to our own immortal soul than is our own awareness. He knows that we dont know our own souls as He does and He is ever patient, ever kind and ever loving.   So we must remember when we are troubled to never let life's hardships bring us to the state of mind where we become overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good! As it says in the good book.
O and it also says; May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.  
 

   Above we must remember as the weather gets hotter, not to leave dogs locked up in cars; especially without water. They cannot sweat, but pant when their body overheats and so need more water to avert dehydration! Just dont leave them unattended.
  

    Here is a flower growing in one of the flower boxes on my balcony. I bow and prostrate myself to the creator of this delicate thing.

Whatever you do for the least of my people you do for me.

Good day my brothers and sisters. Those of you who live in Christ and those who dont. I am sure many of us who visit this site are Christians, or for that matter believers of any world faith which stands up to defend  those who are being persecuted!

I arose this morning from a wonderful nights sleep where I had a dream that I was outside a large private school which had been established hundreds of years and had magnificent lawns and big redbrick buildings. I was fortunate enough to have my camera with me and so thought it would be good to take some  photos for my blog. There was a master there who walked over to me from a group of boys. He asked me what I was doing there and I told him, "Its okay, I am an artist!" He appeared happy with that and went off. In actuality, this day and age people are very suspicious of you taking pictures of children and even buildings. This though was my dream and in it the person of authority respected my explanation.

So upon opening up my email I saw I had only two so far this morning. The first was from an organization called `Pictify` and I didn't open this as it was to inform me that someone liked a work I had posted. Normally I would be keen to look, but the second email took president in my mind. This was from `Avaaz` an organization
that I am a part of which enables individuals from around the globe to come together as one voice and speak out to try and stop major injustices.

I know I always put my name down, even though I am one, thinking at least I am another one joining many. It struck me that maybe the reason so many thousands have been visiting my poor artists website from Germany, is because a week or so ago the power in the universe knew this was coming up and knew also that we here can be many voices together helping to avert a tragedy! I am crying now, looking at the man with his hands together in prayer. I know you see that he wasn't in that pose for the photo shot, he was there praying to our God who is omnipotent and is in most of us.   
     So here in Burma its Buddhists attacking Muslims. Obviously they are not following the Buddhas teachings; yet there are even Atheists who would not hurt any living thing, except perhaps plants. I do know a Hindu man who would not pull up a plant by its roots and kill it! He could also maybe be a Jaine!

Most people didn't know who the Rwandans were until 800,000 had been killed. Now, the fate of the Rohingya people of Burma is hanging by a thread as mobs attack them while the police look on. The Burmese President could stop the violence - all he has to do is approve a plan to protect them and ensure it is enforced, while granting them citizenship. Let’s appeal to European leaders to press him when he visits them in days, and stop the next Rwanda:

Most people didn't know who the Rwandans were until it was too late, and 800,000 of them were dead. Right now, the fate of Burma's Rohingya people is hanging by a thread. Racist thugs have distributed leaflets threatening to wipe out this small Burmese minority. Already children have been hacked to death and unspeakable murders committed. All signs are pointing to a coming horror, unless we act.

Genocides happen because we don't get concerned enough until the crime is committed. The Rohingya are a peaceful and very poor people. They're hated because their skin is darker and the majority fear they’re 'taking jobs away'. There are 800,000 of them, and they could be gone if we don't act. We've failed too many peoples, let's not fail the Rohingya.

Burmese President Thein Sein has the power, personnel and resources to protect the Rohingya, all he has to do is give the word to make it happen. In days, he’ll arrive in Europe to sell his country’s new openness to trade. If EU leaders greet him with a strong request to protect the Rohingya, he’s likely to do it. Let’s get 1 million voices and plaster images of what’s happening in Burma outside his meetings with key EU heads of state:

Moving on to my artists blog and the stats for today! Of course I am overjoyed again today for the top of the list, especially Germany. I do give thanks to God also though for those few individuals visiting. Like the one lone person who visited from Israel and I hope knew that we are all one body gathered here. Whoever we are or may be, we are ONE.

          Welcome my wonderful brothers and sisters. Todays painting is entitled. If you cant dance stay off the floor.
I cannot dance particularly well and so take no offense when asked to stand back and give the floor to those who can. Its a joy to watch the dancers do their their thing and I can applaud for all creation!

I dedicate this blog today to the great German  Christian mystic John Tauler.

John was a Dominican friar and mystic. Like Meister Eckhart and Henry Suso, who he probably met, he believed that a soul could spend its time with God even while here on earth. It took real spiritual discipline, of course, and he gave some practical suggestions for that.

First of all, he recognized that mankind is steeped in sin. It takes God`s grace to overcome it. But we can prepare our hearts for that grace. He suggested that one way of getting closer to God was to turn away from everything that is not simply and purely God. This was quite a different emphasis that the Reformation would later give, when it taught that all things are to be used and enjoyed because created them for us.

This though for me is the stumbling block for many a fat bishop, who is was seen to ignore the wailing's of hungry barefoot children living homeless in the street, by retorting, "this is Gods will, for if it wasnt so, He would not allow it to happen." The same can be said of Hindus who do not help the poor as they say its the fault of their own bad karma from a previous life. 

Yet God is more often with the poor, even though he will accept the occasional invitation to dine with the rich. Jesus said  that  however you treat the least of my people, you treat me!

Because in the school of the Spirit man learns wisdom through humility, knowledge by forgetting, how to speak by silence, how to live by dying.  Forsake that which man values, follow Jesus and get your rewards in the next life.

I have noticed that we havent got the full picture (of my painting produced yesterday!) that these were taken from. It seems that the shot wasnt taken for some reason which my conscious mind does not recall and the subconscious is keeping quiet on this one.

                Moving on.

  

I have since 5am been looking at the Great Christian, John Tauler, his writings and understanding of the greatness of God.

The Book "Theologica Germanica" was thought by some

to have been written by Tauler,

TAULER'S WORDS

"Our Lord is still making this reproach (that of ac

heart) every hour of the day, because of the unbeli

ef and hardheartedness of men the whole world over.

More especially, He reproaches the religious, wheth

"The Lord reproves these people for being incredulo

us and hardhearted. If only they could be brought to

the point where they would accept reproof, recognis

e their hardheartedness, then perhaps a remedy

ilt. St. James says that faith without works is dead.

"Our Lord reproves them for their hardness of heart

. Children, this is a terrible thing

that these souls

whom God has called to himself should have...lost all

taste for Divine things.

Other things they find so attractive, so easy, so 

enjoyable, but towards God their hearts

are as

stone (and quoting from Jeremiah he goes on to say)

"They have forsaken me, the fountain of living

water, and have digged for themselves cisterns, bro

ken cisterns that can hold no water. The cistern

becomes putrid and foul smelling. Who are these peo

ple? They are the religious who have utterly

abandoned the living waters, so that in their soul

there is hardly a flicker of light and life, but only

external things. There they remain, held back

by their way of life, which is entirely concerned 

with the senses, and with externals

...nothing springing from the depths of their own 

hearing.

It is nine am and time for my second meditation and also prayers for myself and you my wonderful brothers and sisters. Spend some time, even at the very least 2minutes in stillness and silence without thought. Then you can know love in its pure form.

Hey, I have some latest art to show you using a spare camera. Cant do any mirror image, nor really, really close ups. Its worth using though as the normal images and its 16mega pixels. Go to end of blog for latest painting.

Abstract Aztec holy man kneels and prays in a multi dimensional place outside time and yet from imagination!

 To be honest with you, I am unable to take any photos of yesterdays work at this moment. My sister is going to post me another camera which is exactly the same model as the one I lost.

 
I have tried to put on a selection of my work which some of you may not have seen before. If you have seen it all before then please bear with me for a couple of days, as the camera is on the way. In fact  - and this has got nothing to do with the camera - the sun is shining and I will take a pause here to paint a joyous feeling!

   Okay, that is done and I now feel relaxed and a trifle joyful. Yesterday I may have been slightly frustrated not to be able to take photos and post them for all to see. Now though I am regaining the calmness which is my natural state. Not to say I cannot be excited and joyful. I have even been known to laugh ecstatically upon occasion! This can often be observed when one of my sons and I are watching comedy on the internet.
 Hmm, I have a had a little reflection on everything; the entire universe and all else. The readers digest said for years that laughter is the best medicine and I believe this can apply to spiritual malady's also! Just going to shoot off from here for a moment to research something to do with this. Back now with a nice smile on my face after seeing a monk laughing. If `Holy` people can never laugh then they are not yet enlightened, or of course they could have a brain injury which makes it physically impossible.
I do have a bit of experience on this and overcoming the effects of a spouses death, brain injury and an arrest by the police and eventual trial at The Old Bailey. Ah being able to forgive the police for their getting it all wrong and eventually being able to laugh at them, has washed away all anger or blame. Why blame others for not being perfect, when we none of us travelling this earthly life have got it right 100% of the time!
Bless those who persecute us we are told and I am now doing this!

To practise the Way single-heartedly is, in itself, enlightenment. There is no gap between practise and enlightenment or zazen and daily life.

Zazen is not limited to Buddhism. One only has to read `Christianity and Zen, by Thomas Merton, a Christian Monk, to come to this conclusion. This is what I came to see, but I do not say you cannot disagree with this and I respect your right to your own beliefs, even if I may no longer go along with them. I have been locked up behind bars decades ago and insisted there cannot be a God!
 The only thing I do not respect is people making fun of others beliefs, when those beliefs are not harmful.
You get (so called) Christians harranging gays or women getting abortions then they themselves should perhaps be open to getting some stones thrown back at them!
Its not just Christians though. Many enlightened churches will accept openly gay men and women in there churches. Islam is not as enlightened. You will not find a women leading men and women in prayers or anyone with a glad to be gay Tshirt on. Or will you?
  I admit I have been guilty in the past of making fun of Atheists. I will try not to do this in future. Or will I?
I just have to try to do better every day. Saying this, I must set my alarm for 5.45pm as I have to take mother to church this evening for a parish meeting. She can get a bit annoyed with me if I am late. This though is understandable. Beings that shes in her eighties, its not like shes going to say to herself, `its such a lovely day I will walk the three miles to church! 

    Above we can see my work framed and hung on the wall. This goes to show that although some us well be able to appreciate that which isnt framed, as below and infact 99% of my work I post on the blog; framing art can focus our attention to appreciate it even more. This goes for me all the way. To me, my little A3 and
A4 works look heaps better. Hmm I have just noticed that my table looks to be rather cluttered. Note to self, must be tidier even if I am to attract for a platonic relationship, an intelligent spiritual woman!
As for the larger works its just exponential in their presentation giving a sense of awe!   

    The darkness above reminds me that we sometimes need this to rest and sleep, (even, perchance to dream.) but we must not hide in the shadows. We are light beings and have to live a well balanced life being able to go out and shine in the world.

Know that you are loved my brothers and sisters and don't let this world get you down. It is transitory and will pass. We are immortal spiritual beings having this brief human experience and so must enjoy life to the full when we can and get over our losses with help from the almighty force of love which we are part and parcel of!                      I did go out this morning and buy another camera. My sons will be going back to visit the country of their birth, the Philippines, in a few weeks and so can take it with them and use it there. I can then get to see how the land I brought for them has developed and if the fruit trees and hardwood is still there!
