New day and a new year. How about a new you and a new me!

Hope you are having a good one...

I should like to share with you why I am glad to be a prolific painter and not a horrific hater.

Here are some photos of my art, accompanied by words from others. Enjoy...

“When we are unable to find tranquility within ourselves, it is useless to seek it elsewhere.” Francois de La Rochefoucauld

“Sometimes the most important thing in a whole day is the rest we take between two deep breaths.” Etty Hillesum

“There is more to life than increasing its speed.” Gandhi

“Nothing is permanent in this wicked world – not even our troubles.” Charlie Chaplin

“The tighter you squeeze, the less you have.” Ma-Tsu

“It is better to practice a little than talk a lot.” Muso Kokushi

“A crust eaten in peace is better than a banquet partaken in anxiety.” Aesop

“Take rest; a field that has rested gives a bountiful crop.” Ovid

“Your mind will answer most questions if you learn to relax and wait for the answer.” William S. Burroughs

“Calm in quietude is not real calm. When you can be calm in the midst of activity, this is the true state of nature. Happiness in comfort is not real happiness. When you can be happy in the midst of hardship, then you see the true potential of the mind.” Huanchu Daoren

“Sometimes it’s important to work for that pot of gold. But other times it’s essential to take time off and to make sure that your most important decision in the day simply consists of choosing which color to slide down on the rainbow.” Douglas Pagels

“Before I had studied Zen for thirty years, I saw mountains as mountains, and waters as waters. When I arrived at a more intimate knowledge, I came to the point where I saw that mountains are not mountains, and waters are not waters. But now that I have got its very substance I am at rest. For it’s just that I see mountains once again as mountains, and waters once again as waters.”  Ching-yuan

“And the end of all our exploring will be to arrive where we started and know the place for the first time.”  T.S. Eliot

Begin at the beginning... and go on till you come to the end: then stop. ~Lewis Carroll, Alice's Adventures in Wonderland

Losing an illusion makes you wiser than finding a truth. ~Ludwig Börne

The fish trap exists because of the fish. Once you've gotten the fish you can forget the trap. The rabbit snare exists because of the rabbit. Once you've gotten the rabbit, you can forget the snare. Words exist because of meaning. Once you've gotten the meaning, you can forget the words. Where can I find a man who has forgotten words so I can talk with him? ~Chuang Tzu

You can't wake a person who is pretending to be asleep. ~Navajo Proverb

Knock on the sky and listen to the sound. ~Zen Saying

Here above you can see where some paint has broken away and has lifted up from the paper. I may or may nor give this painting a coat of watered down UPVA glue! Could just leave it to the elements.

Each forward step we take we leave some phantom of ourselves behind. ~John Lancaster Spalding

We must remember that nothing in this world really belongs to us. At best, we are merely borrowers. ~Christopher Isherwood

The map is not the territory. ~Alfred Korzybski

By daily dying I have come to be. ~Theodore Roethke

Some people say you have to believe before you can receive. Others say that you have to believe you have already received before you actually receive. Mr Nebblesworth says stop believing you are an individual separate from all others and all things will belong to you already.  Peter G Kimble

We are all but recent leaves on the same old tree of life and if this life has adapted itself to new functions and conditions, it uses the same old basic principles over and over again. There is no real difference between the grass and the man who mows it. ~Albert Szent-Györgyi

When the student is ready, the master appears. ~Buddhist Proverb

If an illusion can have a shadow, can your concept of self be real, or are they even related.  ~ Mr Nebblesworth

Have a wonderful and blessed new year my brothers and sister. Know that my love is for you all.
