Sunday eve POST

Good evening. I do hope that your day has gone well.  Above are some shots of a painting done not long ago. Hmm, just thought. Not long ago could mean 18months. No, the paint is still wet and it was done about twenty minutes ago.

I did take some shots using the mirror effect, but felt that they didnt add anything good and so weren't worth putting in just for the sake of it.

PERSISTENCE
"Nothing in the world can take the place of persistence. Talent will not; nothing is more common than unsuccessful men with talent. Genius will not; unrewarded genius is almost a proverb. Education will not; the world is full of educated derelicts. Persistence and determination alone are omnipotent. The slogan "Press on" has solved and always will solve the problems of the human race."

ST MATTHEW THE APOSTLE

`Follow me` (Matt. 4.19): The cost of discipleship

Cheap grace is the deadly enemy of our Church. We are fighting today for costly grace. Cheap grace means grace sold on the market like cheapjack`s wares. The sacraments, the forgiveness of sin and the consolations of religion are thrown away at cut prices. Cheap grace is the preaching of forgiveness without requiring repentance, baptism without church confession. Cheap grace is grace without discipleship, grace without the cross, grace without Jesus Christ, living and incarnate.
Costly grace is the treasure hidden in the field; for the sake of it a man will gladly go and sell all that he has. It is the pearl of great price to buy which the merchant will sell all his goods. It is the kingly rule of Christ, for whose sake a man will pluck out the eye which causes him to stumble; it is the call of
Jesus Christ at which the disciple leaves his nets and follows him.
Such grace is costly because it costs a man his life, and it is grace because it gives a man the only true life.
                                                                                                                      DIETRICH BONHOEFFER

I have read a book by Bonhoeffer and it makes me recall a sad fact that many people have unfounded blanket view of a whole race by the actions of either a few or a nation at one point in the whole of history.

Bonloeffer hung on a rope and Jesus hung on a cross. Still today some people would rather give up their life for others than live a lie.

Lets give a thought to all the unknown heroes and saints.

Your brother in Christ, Peter
